PBN Design Plant Database

Let’s explore how trees, flowers, hydrangeas, roses, shrubs, and ornamental grasses can create an enchanting Plant By Number design in your garden.

PBN design, much like its artistic counterpart, involves mapping out your garden space with garden maps, assigning each plant a number or a specific place in the design. It’s a methodical approach to creating a visually harmonious garden.

Trees set the stage in a PBN design garden map, acting as the focal points. They provide height, structure, and a sense of permanence. Smaller trees like Japanese maples can be used in modest-sized gardens, while larger spaces can accommodate majestic oaks or birches. The key is to place trees where they can grow to their full potential without overcrowding other plants.

Next are the flowers, the vibrant strokes of color in your garden painting. In a PBN design garden map, you can group flowers by color, bloom time, or height. This creates a cohesive look. For example, planting clusters of tulips and daffodils will give a burst of spring color, while summer can be greeted with masses of black-eyed Susans and zinnias.

Hydrangeas are fantastic for adding a lush, full-bodied texture. With their large blooms, they can fill up space effectively, making them ideal for creating spread out and visually appealing gardens through PBN design garden maps. Hydrangeas come in various colors, from deep blues to vibrant pinks, and can be used to create a gradient or color block effect.
Roses are the classic choice for adding elegance. In a garden, roses can be used to create lines or borders, or as standalone features. Climbing roses are perfect for vertical accents on walls or trellises. Mixing different types of roses, from floribundas to hybrid teas, can add depth to your design.

Shrubs form the ‘middle layer’ in a PBN design garden map. They fill the gaps between tall trees and low-lying flowers, providing a sense of balance. Evergreen shrubs like boxwoods can give structure while flowering shrubs like lilacs add seasonal color and fragrance.

Ornamental grasses are the final brushstroke in your PBN design garden map. They bring movement and a soft texture, contrasting well with the more solid shapes of shrubs and trees. Tall grasses like Miscanthus can create a backdrop, while shorter varieties like Festuca can edge pathways or borders.

When designing your garden, think of your garden as a canvas. Consider factors like sun exposure, soil type, and water needs to ensure each plant thrives in its designated spot and find the corresponding plants and PBN design garden maps. This approach not only simplifies garden planning but also creates a visually stunning and harmonious landscape.
